Mentmore Towers is one of the most dramatic Victorian country houses in England — built between 1852 and 1854 for Baron Mayer de Rothschild by Joseph Paxton, architect of the Crystal Palace. Its great hall, with its glazed roof and carved stone galleries, creates a wedding setting of theatrical grandeur. Set on a hilltop with views across the Vale of Aylesbury, it is a building of unmistakable presence.
